Kristin Watt is a partner in the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, and serves as chair of the environmental group. Her practice focuses on environmental compliance and counseling, enforcement defense, environmental audits and permitting issues. She also assists with due diligence in business and commercial real estate transactions and the contracting provisions related to each.
Her law career highlights include arguing successfully before the 10th District Court of Appeals; regularly appearing before the Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board, where she has been successful in arguing issues relating to insurance coverage; and settling a $4 million enforcement case for a large service station client.
Ms. Watt is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Columbus Bar Association and The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law National Council. She has delivered talks on many legal topics, including multimedia audits, environmental audit privileges, environmental issues related to real estate transactions, storm water regulations, underground storage tanks and environmental issues related to Ohio shale fracking.
She has served as chair of The Ohio State University Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2017 and as a member of that board since 2014. Since 1987, she also has served as a WOSU radio color commentator for Ohio State women’s basketball games. Ms. Watt was a forward for the Buckeyes from 1981-85 and was a co-captain her senior year. The Buckeyes won the Big Ten each of those years, including a perfect 18-0 in the conference in 1984-85.
Ms. Watt received her JD with honors from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration cum laude from The Ohio State University.
