Anand Shah is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in biomedical science with minors in economics and real estate. As an undergraduate, he has received a variety of notable competitive scholarships at Ohio State, including the Eminence Fellowship — a merit scholarship that covers the full cost-of-attendance for just 21 incoming freshman each year — and the Biomedical Science Scholarship through the College of Medicine.
Mr. Shah is heavily involved with student groups around the university’s Columbus campus. He is as a member of the Buckeye Leadership Fellows, Student Alumni Council, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Genesis X — Ohio State’s premiere all-male Bollywood Fusion dance team. He also serves as the Director of Recruitment for the Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club and the Director of Membership Selections and Education for BuckeyeThon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio. BuckeyeThon raises funds and awareness for the Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Shah is passionate about improving the quality of healthcare and reducing the cost of care for patients. To that end, he hopes to one day earn an MD/MBA dual degree in order to pursue a pediatric specialty before ultimately working in hospital administration. Recognizing the complexity of the healthcare field, Mr. Shah intends to use his degrees to help bridge the gap between clinicians and administrators.
In 2017, Mr. Shah co-founded SmileChild, a nonprofit organization that fights infant mortality by supporting families with education and resources. SmileChild is currently developing an iOS learning platform that focuses on infant care topics. Mr. Shah also volunteers at The James Cancer Hospital and researches infant mortality and maternal health within the College of Medicine.
Mr. Shah is a graduate of Centerville High School in Montgomery County, Ohio.
