Michael J. Gasser was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in September 2012. Michael J. Gasser is executive chairman of the board of Greif, Inc., (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B). Mr. Gasser joined Greif in August 1979 as internal auditor at the company’s headquarters in Delaware, Ohio. Prior to that, he was manager of audit with the public accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand.

Janet B. Reid, Ph.D. is a Founding Partner and retired Director of Global Novations, a management consulting firm that serves Fortune 100 corporations world-wide in leadership development and talent management. Global Novations was acquired by Korn/Ferry International in 2012.
W. G. Jurgensen (2018)
W.G. "Jerry" Jurgensen was appointed to the board by Governor Strickland in May 2009. He is the retired C.E.O. of Nationwide Insurance. He served as chief executive for 8 years. Prior to joining Nationwide Mr. Jurgensen was an Executive Vice President with Banc One Corporation, now a part of J.P. Morgan Chase.
Jeffrey Wadsworth (2019)
Jeff Wadsworth was appointed to the board by Governor Strickland in June 2010. He has been President and CEO of Battelle Memorial Institute since January 2009. Battelle is the world’s largest nonprofit research and development organization, executing about $6.0B of work annually and employing about 22,500 people. Formed in 1925 as a charitable trust and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Battelle counts among its successes the development of the Xerox machine, pioneering work on the compact disc, and a number of innovations in medical technology, telecommunications, environmental waste treatment, homeland security, and transportation.
Clark C. Kellogg (2019)
Clark C. Kellogg was appointed to the board by Governor Strickland in June 2010. Clark is a TV Color Analyst and receives national notoriety for his work on college basketball telecasts. In July 2010, he was named Vice President of Player Relations for the Indiana Pacers.
Alex Shumate (2020)
Alex Shumate is serving his third term on the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University, having previously served on the Board from 1989-1998 and from 2006-2012, including a term as chairman of the board from 1997-98 and as vice chairman from 2011-2012. He was appointed by Governor Kasich in June 2012 to serve a term which ends in 2020. During his time on the Board, Mr. Shumate has twice served as the Chair of the University’s Presidential Search Committee.
Cheryl L. Krueger (2021)
Cheryl Krueger was the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Cheryl & Co., a multi-million dollar gourmet food and gift corporation, which she sold in 2005. Krueger had served as president since the company’s incorporation in 1981 through March 2009. She founded KRUEGER+CO. Consulting, Inc. and serves as its CEO.
Brent R. Porteus (2022)
Brent R. Porteus was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in May 2013 to serve a nine year term. Mr. Porteus is a managing partner of the family-owned farming and agricultural business, Blair Porteus & Sons, in Coshocton County, Ohio. Their primary focus is commercial grain and beef production. Blair Porteus & Sons is a local industry leader in value based marketing and retaining ownership to maximize advantages of cow herd genetics and herd health programs.
Erin P. Hoeflinger (2022)
Erin P. Hoeflinger was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in November 2013. A tireless advocate for improving health care access, Erin Hoeflinger has played a central role in transforming the country’s health care system to a value-based model focused on improving quality, lowering cost, and generating a better patient experience. She is driven by her conviction that the key to creating a true health care system – one that proactively creates health and functions efficiently – lies in collaborating with health care providers, leveraging data and technology, and putting the consumer at the center of the model.
Alex R. Fischer (2023)
Alex Fischer is the President and CEO of the Columbus Partnership, a civic organization of Columbus, Ohio’s top business leaders formed in 2002 to improve the economic and cultural base of central Ohio. The Partnership is helping to lead the Columbus 2020 economic development effort, which is a collaboration of regional economic development organizations, and is involved with education reform efforts with Columbus City Schools. The Partnership’s members include 15 Fortune 1000 CEOs, as well as the leaders of the nation’s largest university and world’s largest research and development organization.
Hiroyuki Fujita (2024)
Hiroyuki Fujita, Ph.D. is the Founder, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Quality Electrodynamics (QED), a global developer and manufacturer of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology. He is the author of 16 patents and has published more than 40 scientific papers and abstracts. Dr. Fujita serves as Adjunct Full Professor of Physics, Department of Physics, and Radiology, Department of Radiology, School of Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, and Adjunct Full Professor, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at The University of Queensland, Australia. Dr. Fujita is a Senior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Dr. Fujita was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in 2016.
Alan A. Stockmeister (2025)
Alan A. Stockmeister was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in February 2017. Mr. Stockmeister is a lifelong Jackson resident and the son of the late Art (A.J.) and Bernadine Bennett Stockmeister. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1970, then enrolled at Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduating from college in 1974, he returned to Jackson and became involved in the contracting companies and businesses started by his parents.
John W. Zeiger (2026)
John W. Zeiger was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich to serve a nine-year term. Mr. Zeiger, a two-time graduate of The Ohio State University, is Founding Partner of Zeiger, Tigges & Little LLP, a Columbus-based litigation boutique law firm.
Alan VanderMolen - Charter Trustee (2020)
Alan VanderMolen, of Chicago was appointed by The Ohio State University Board of Trustees to serve as a Charter Trustee for a three-year term. Mr. VanderMolen serves as Vice Chairman of DJE Holdings, the world’s largest Public Relations firm. He is responsible for Edelman’s eight global business practices, the firm’s intellectual capital, its regional business in Latin American and Canada, and Edelman’s award-winning sister agency, Zeno.
Janet Porter - Charter Trustee (2020)
Janet Porter was appointed by The Ohio State University Board of Trustees to serve as a charter trustee for a three-year term. She has 40 years of experience as a hospital administrator, teacher, association executive, consultant and public health leader. She joined Stroudwater Associates in 2012, and serves as a strategy, operational and leadership development consultant to academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, physician practices, pharmaceutical companies and national associations. She was elected to the Stroudwater Associates board of directors in 2015.
James D. Klingbeil - Charter Trustee (2021)
James Klingbeil was reappointed by The Ohio State University Board of Trustees in 2018 to serve a second three-year term as a charter trustee. Mr. Klingbeil has served on The Ohio State University Foundation Board of Directors and chaired its Development Committee. Mr. Klingbeil is Co-Chairman and CEO of Klingbeil Capital Management (KCM) and the Klingbeil Company (TKC), headquartered in San Francisco.
Lydia A. Lancaster (2018)
Lydia A. Lancaster, was appointed the graduate/professional student member of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees in May 2016. She is a first-year resident in the Ohio State orthodontics residency program. Dr. Lancaster completed her undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated magna cum laude with her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Ohio State’s College of Dentistry.
H. Jordan Moseley (2019)
H. Jordan Moseley was appointed the undergraduate member of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees in May 2017. A student at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Jordan is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in public management, leadership and policy, with a specialization in education policy and a minor in business.
