Membership

Jo Ann Davidson was appointed as a member of the OSU board of trustees in 2001. No stranger to public service, Davidson is former Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives. Serving ten terms in the Ohio House of Representatives representing a portion of Franklin County, Davidson was the first woman Speaker of the Ohio House, serving in that position from 1995 through 2000.

Davidson currently has her own consulting firm, JAD and Associates, in Columbus. In 2001, she served as interim director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Her public service career also included a 10-year stint as a member of City Council in Reynoldsburg, a suburb of Columbus, from 1968-1977.

Mrs. Davidson has received a number of honors for her service including induction into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in 1991, the YWCA Women of Achievement Award in 1992, the Good Housekeeping Award for Women in Government, and Governing Magazine's Public Official of the Year in 1999.

Davidson serves as co-chairman of the Republican National Committee and serves as a director of the Western & Southern Financial Group. Mrs. Davidson was awarded honorary doctorates from The Ohio State University, Ohio University, Franklin University and the University of Findlay.

Mrs. Davidson, who resides in Reynoldsburg, has two daughters, Julie and Jenifer, and four grandchildren.
