Alex Swain, from Huron, was appointed as the undergraduate student trustee by Governor Strickland for a two-year term beginning 5/14/2009. Alex is a graduate of Huron High School. She is currently pursing dual degrees at Ohio State: a BS in Business Administration (Accounting) in the Honors Contract Program at the Fisher College of Business and a BS in Health Sciences (Health Management) at the School of Allied Medical Professions.
Ms. Swain has been very active in student government at Ohio State. She served as the Secretary of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Senate and a University Senator her sophomore year. This past year, she served as the USG Chief of Staff and the Chair for the University Senate Council on Student Affairs. She was also the Director of the 2008 Student Involvement Fair. Alex works as a tutor for the Student Athlete Support Services Office and is a research assistant in the Division of Vascular Diseases and Surgery at the OSU Medical Center. Alex has been very committed to the development of the whole student and the significance of student involvement, academic success, and professional development to a holistic student experience.
Alex is excited about the different opportunities to link her interests in health care and business into an exciting profession. She is still keeping her options open following graduation but hopes to pursue a career where she can use her knowledge and passion to make a difference.
Ms. Swain is the daughter of Liz and Matt Swain of Columbus, Ohio.
