Jeffrey Wadsworth, Chair (2019)
Jeff Wadsworth was appointed to the board by Governor Strickland in June 2010. He has been President and CEO of Battelle Memorial Institute since January 2009. Battelle is the world’s largest nonprofit research and development organization, executing about $6.0B of work annually and employing about 22,500 people. Formed in 1925 as a charitable trust and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Battelle counts among its successes the development of the Xerox machine, pioneering work on the compact disc, and a number of innovations in medical technology, telecommunications, environmental waste treatment, homeland security, and transportation. Ronald A. Ratner, Vice Chair (2015)
Ronald A. Ratner, from Cleveland, was appointed by Governor Ted Strickland, for a term of 11/30/2007-5/13/2015. Mr. Ratner currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and Director of Forest City Enterprises, Inc. In addition, he is President of Forest City Residential Group which comprises all of the multifamily residential ownership, development, management and financial activities of Forest City Enterprises. Alex Shumate, Vice Chair (2020)
Alex Shumate is serving his third term on the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University, having previously served on the Board from 1989-1998 and from 2006-2012, including a term as chairman of the board from 1997-98 and as vice chairman from 2011-2012. He was appointed by Governor Kasich in June 2012 to serve a term which ends in 2020. During his time on the Board, Mr. Shumate has twice served as the Chair of the University’s Presidential Search Committee. Algenon L. Marbley (2016)
Algenon L. Marbley, of Columbus, was appointed as a member of the OSU board of trustees by Governor Strickland to serve a nine-year term. In 1997, he was appointed by President Clinton as a United States District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio. Prior to his appointment, he was a partner with the Columbus, Ohio office of the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, where he specialized in civil litigation with an emphasis on business litigation, product liability litigation, and employment litigation. Linda S. Kass (2017)
Linda Stern Kass of Columbus was appointed by Governor Strickland in 2008 to serve a nine-year term on the OSU Board of Trustees. A native of Columbus, Ms. Kass received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts degree from The Ohio State University. After a brief period in the allied medical profession, she worked as a journalist, writing for regional and national publications, including TIME and The Detroit Free Press, and later served as a corporate communications and public affairs executive within the cable television and broadcasting industries in New York City. Cheryl Krueger was the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Cheryl & Co., a multi-million dollar gourmet food and gift corporation, which she sold in 2005. Michael J. Gasser was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in September 2012. Michael J. Gasser is executive chairman of the board of Greif, Inc., (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B). Erin P. Hoeflinger was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in November 2013. Erin P. Hoeflinger was named President for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio in 2008. A native Ohioan, Ms. Hoeflinger is responsible for the strategic leadership of the largest health benefits company in the state. Alex Fischer is the President and CEO of the Columbus Partnership, a civic organization of Columbus, Ohio’s top business leaders formed in 2002 to improve the economic and cultural base of central Ohio. The Partnership is helping to lead the Columbus 2020 economic development effort, which is a collaboration of regional economic development organizations, and is involved with education reform efforts with Columbus City Schools. G. Gilbert Cloyd, of Austin, Texas, was appointed to the board of trustees in 2005 and served as chairperson of the The Ohio State University Board of Trustees from 2007-09. Steven M. Loborec, from Columbus, Ohio, was appointed as the graduate/professional student trustee by Governor Kasich for a 2-year term beginning May 27, 2014. Steven is currently a graduate student pursuing MS/MPH dual degrees specializing in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Health Services Management and Policy.
